New York New York! A city so nice they named it twice!

Number 9.... Go to NYC and see a Broadway Show!

If I could sing or act I would be a Broadway Star or that is what I tell myself.  I love the excitement of the shows.  I love the twists, turns, big musical numbers, and the big happy ending.  I have seen many shows in my life at the Providence Performing Arts Center but never on the "Great White Way"!

This past Christmas I was discussing with my family my 36 in 36 list.  My sister off the cuff said "I'll take you to Broadway and see Evita before it closes".  I didn't believe it was true, but it was!

We made our way to NYC before a huge storm was on it's way.  Our goal was get in before it starts and out after it ends.  Good plan right?  Well that fell apart because the storm came later then it should have and stayed longer then it should have.  But we still had a blast in NYC.  We stayed in a beautiful hotel right in Times Square.  We came in on a Friday night, settled in and then went for dinner.

When we arrived I was able to knock another items off the list...Number 23 Go to four new restaurants (not chains!)

We ate at Heartland Brewery and it was so good.  There was some "celebrity" there.  I use the term loosely because to this day my sister and I have no idea who this man was!  There was a family sitting next to us and they were freaking out and asked when his meal was done if they could get a picture with him.  I joked and said he was DJ Lance from Yo Gabba Gabba and that is what I will say if people ask if we saw any celebrities in NYC.  But sadly it wasn't.  I have a few 5 year old friends who would have thought I was super cool if they saw a picture of the two of us!

Then that evening my sister asked me..."What do you want to do next?".  I have always wanted to visit Serendipity!   A NYC landmark that has been shown in many movies and television shows and I have always dreamed of going there.  So since this was the weekend of dreams coming true, a cab ride later and we were there.  Peanut Butter Frozen Hot Chocolate!  Oh my word it was amazing!

My lovely sister glowing in the holiday decorations!  So much fun had by all!

Then on Saturday morning we went to go get our tickets to see Evita!  Didn't take long to make it happen!  We got super awesome seat, thanks Melanie!  This was shaping out to be an amazing birthday gift.

The show was amazing!  Did I mention that Ricky Martin was Che in Evita?  So dreamy!  I was also excited because the actress who played Evita was not performing that Saturday her understudy did and I LOVE her.

Our time was over and it was time to go home.  So sad.  It took forever to get home.  That is because we had to stop in Connecticut because the storm was so bad.  Our stay at the first hotel didn't last long due to bedbugs.  My sister yelled, manager apologized and then we were back on the road to our second stop which was bedbug free.  We were glad to get sleep and head out the next day.

I was never a fan of New York until this trip.  Now I have the NYC bug!  I want to go back all the time and see many more shows and I will!  Now what 36 in 36 is next....

New Year, New Adventures

So this year I have decided to try something new.  Instead of having ideas and thinking about making plans and never following through; I would actually do things.  You know how you have those conversations with friends we should totally....fill in the blank here.  Great ideas, people are super excited and then zero follow through!  I thought how can I fix this?  How can I stop having ideas and start having adventures?  So 36 in 36 was born.  Over the next year (it works that my birthday is January 1st) I will accomplish 36 thinks I have planned out.  I will write about the adventures and share them with friends and family.

One of the items on my list is blogging, number 16 as a matter of fact.  I said that I would get better at blogging.  Well here it is March 12th and as we can see...I haven't!  But today is a new day and as Anne Shirley would say "Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it...yet".  So I will start here!  Stay tuned for my first adventure!
